At Kaleo This Sunday: "Vintage Prayer" (Luke 11:1-4) & BBQ
When the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray Jesus gives them what Christians call "The Lord's Prayer".
Let's relearn how to pray by taking a fresh look at this vintage prayer of Jesus.
Read it. It's just three verses. What do you see? What are the priorities of this ancient prayer? Pray it - as is. Does it seem to fit where you heart is at? Or do the priorities and desires of this prayer honestly seem alien to what drives your heart? Pray that the Lord's Prayer will shape your heart this week, so that the two are a natural fit together.
We will have a BBQ this week. It will be a great week to invite a friend. Chances are your friends all pray, at least occasionally. There will be a clear connection to the Gospel. They will see how impossible spirituality is without coming to the cross first - an important message in our spiritual/cultural context.
To pray is to breath, spiritually. May the Spirit come and refresh our souls again this Sunday - teaching us to breath and live.
It's gonna be good!
Erick.
