I'm really looking forward to teaching this Sunday in Kaleo's "Get Wisdom!" (Proverbs) series.
This
week we will get God's wisdom on how to resolve conflicts - how to be
true peacemakers. Peacemaking is recognized as the height of wisdom
even by those who don't know God.
Here's an example of what I mean: This is a group of
unbelieving Mongolian prison guards. I had the privilege of teaching
them what the Bible has to say about peacemaking.
Before the Message:
After the Message:
They were so amazed by what the Bible has to say about peacemaking
that they rushed us when we asked if they wanted Bibles. It was
crazy! :-)
Come out Sunday night and learn how to be wise in peacemaking in a way that will actually attract others to Jesus.
Kaleo People, Come join us as we serve and love our extended body of Christ. Meet at 7:45. Meet off Hwy 79 south, turn right and park at the AM/PM. We will leave extra vehicles in the carpool parking across the street What to bring: Jacket or sweatshirt, sack lunch and, money for gas, dinner, and car insurance ($14.00-$30.00 per car).
You must have a valid passport, no copies allowed.
What to wear: Modest clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and tennis shoes. Bring sunscreen, we may be outdoors for long periods of time.
Donations: we will be doing grocery shopping for them when we get there at Calimax. They make a list for us of the things that they are in current need of and we do our best to supply them with those items. You are welcome to
donate money to help cover the cost. We usually spend around $200.00 each time.
What will we be doing? Cleaning, picking up trash, construction, laundry, grocery shopping, organizing, playing with the kids, etc. There is always a list of projects for us to do while we are there. If we are not working, we are showing the love of Christ to children who may or may not know him. They have had terrible experiences in life, much more that I can even imagine. Abuse of all kinds, abandonment, neglect, and violence.
You would never guess this when meeting them, they are happy, playful and affectionate. Our God is a God of redemption and they are in that process. We also are there to minister to the missionaries that give up so much
to be there full-time. They gave up lives of comfort, with good jobs, homes, and salaries. They gave it up for the sake of the gospel being spread and being made known to others. Lets encourage them in their mission and calling
that God has placed on us all. We like to allow them to be able to rest on the day that we come to help lighten their load for the day. Lets be a blessing to them.
In Luke 15, we usually think of the younger brother, the "prodigal son", as the
lost one. And he was, but the father in the parable actually had two lost
sons.
The younger son was alienated from his father through reckless living.
His older brother was also alienated from his father (in a more
dangerous and subtle way) even through he always "did the right
things".
Join us as we listen to Jesus shows us there are actually two ways to be lost and one way to be found.
This week at Kaleo, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a feast and invites us to enjoy it with him (Luke 14:15-24). He's made all of the preparations for you to join him and he wants his house to be filled!
Here's some M. Ward that captures the spirit of our passage nicely:
Well they called me once, and they called me twice
Third time they called me was cold as ice,
They say "get to the table, get to the table on time!"
Better make up your mind, if you wanna get to the table on time
Better get to the table, get to the table on time.
And the lord of lords, he laid out a feast,
He said "listen to me boys, this will be last one of these,
So you better get to the table, get to the table on time."
Better make up your mind, if you wanna get to the table on time
Better get to the table, get to the table on time
We'll be rejoicing in how the Kingdom of God brings liberation from the bondage of Satan (Luke 13:10-21).
It started off small but the Kingdom of God cannot be stopped - it will one day fill and take over the whole world.
The King has given his life to welcome us into his revolution!
